Public figures publicly flounting smoking ban

Posted by: amritray on: February 24, 2009

I found this nice post in an NGO website and thought it was worth sharing with the public. It shows how the public figures including actors and politicians flounting smoking ban themselves setting a wrong example to the public. These are the people common man try to follow, so they should have more sense to behave responsibily in public.

Are people’s perception changing towards God?

Posted by: amritray on: February 10, 2009

Are people’s  perception changing towards God? Are people becoming less God fearing? Are they starting to think on their own? Are people speaking out? Is it Good or is it Bad?

Ariane Sherine, a London-based atheist and comedy writer, saw a pro-Jesus advertisement on the back of a London bus saying that the non believers will suffer featuring what she described as “fiery apocalyptic sunset.”

This, along with archsceptic professor Richard Dawkins, made her devise a scheme and launched an advertisement which said “There’s probably no God. Now stop worrying and enjoy your life.” This ad campaign was run on 800 British buses.

So what are your thoughts on this?

You can read more about it here:

Ever wondered who is God?

Posted by: amritray on: February 10, 2009

I bet if you are not out of your mind then you never questioned about the existence of God, have you? Just like the rest of you I also believe that God exists.

However, there is a difference between how you and I perceive God. There are so many religions on this Earth. And you cannot imagine the horror of yourself not being part of one of them, right? Can you imagine someone asks you which religion you follow and you don’t know the answer? Each religion as you know has many followers, their own holy books, their rituals, their beliefs etc.

Now since I am a Hindu, am I justified in thinking that only my religion is right and all other religions are false? And can a Christian think of Jesus as the Almightly and the Gods in other religion just a fiction of imagination? You will obviously say “No”, all religions are good and equal. Now how can that be? Every religion has a different story to tell, different beliefs etc. So if one is right then the other has to be wrong.

If we give the explanation that all religions are right then it is automatically concluded that Ram was here, Jesus was here and other Gods were here too. And they all did good work, fought evil, cured people, had supernatural powers. So they were all good. So then why don’t we worship each others Gods too?

I took these photos when I visited Kokata

Posted by: amritray on: February 10, 2009

During my last visit to Kolkata, which was somewhere around September – October, I can’t remember exactly. I wanted to share of the photographs I took during my brief visit. Though it has been a long time but I was just too lazy to publish the pictures on my blog. Though I also have so many videos too, but they just take too long to upload, so it will be some time before I post them. In the meantime do let me know what you guys think of the photographs.
